About Him
I think the middle ground is usually the best place to stand. I believe in being fair almost above all else. I am capable and reliable. I'm good with money, which tells you more about character than bank balance. Deferred gratification is a virtue, at certain life stages anyway. Now, I'm enjoying the fruits of my labor, but I need a partner in crime. I take care of and protect the people I love....that's friends, my kids, my love, my mom, and old lady living down the street alone. I'm a good conversationalist, and good musician, a good writer and a decent dancer. I'm very so-so at navigating technology, which is now moving too fast for me to keep up. And my interest in every new gadget is waning. So, I'm also a little bit of a curmudgeon.
About His Ideal Match
My ideal match knows her music, likes to kiss and touch, might even know a dance step or two. She is beautiful inside and out. I'm drawn to curvy, brainy, unpretentious, loyal, affectionate, and forgiving. I'd like a partner capable of solving conflict constructively, and I absolutely do not fit well with high drama, helplessness or passive-aggressive. I often think the world is divided into two types of people...those with a reliable center and those that lack a solid core. Just sticking with the positivity on this point: reliable to me means, a promise is meaningful and worth keeping. It means admitting you were wrong or defensive isn't an impossible feat that's totally out of character. Reliable means you have a set of values when it comes to handling money, conflict, joint decisions, knowing when and how to say "no" to people as well as when to go soft and easy, and say yes. It means treating your kids and my kids as our kids. It means truth telling, even when the conversation is difficult. My ideal match is slightly old fashioned, and has a tender heart, but not for stray animals :-) (I know, I know....I just lost half the possible pool of attractive women who love pets more than just about anything in this life.) Just be nice to me, consistently, and let's play together, and lay together, and cook and walk and play board games and travel and mourn together as we get old and the lights dim and the clock runs down. Let's go down laughing and playing and being our best selves. Let's give new meaning to the word forever. That's what I want. What do you want?
